RD 400 Restoration -

The fuel tank and exhaust we have been fitted, after 2 days cleaning and polishing. They are not new and have a few marks but are in nice original condition. We are using these if we are to keep the finished price nearer £3000 than £4000. It is looking realy nice now and catches everyone's eye while it's parked in the shop. We should have finished restoring more parts soon (bead blasting,plating,painting etc) and will post progress again next week.

Its been a while since we did any work on the RD's but Rick has been busy finding all the best bits and putting them together in a newly coated RD400 C frame. He has restored wheels and most of the cycle parts, pinched all my plating and powder coated parts from my stash and its looking great. The following 3 pics are the latest to give you an Idea of the progress.

RD 400 Restoration -

Just before Christmas I got bored for a day so stripped a couple of my RD's ready for restoring. Frames were checked over for damaged threads ETC and sent for blasting and powder coating, along with any other black bits. I cleaned up all the nuts and bolts and sent them in for plating. I have now started assembling the 2 frames, fitting new head bearings ,bushes etc as required. The first picture shows some of the steel fittings after bead blasting ready for the platers.
