I got the road Tax on Wednesday, picked a nice ally disc holder and its ready for road testing on Thursday.
Its Thursday at last and the sun is out, cool !!!!
The Turbo is a little low on fuel so its off to the station, £10 later and I have a date with the East Lanc's road.
Nice power delivery, even with the waste gate set with zero boost (for now), power right through the range up to my self inflicted rev limit of 6000-7000 max.
Didn't go past 70mph but it felt right, brakes and handling were good, it feels quite light and nimble compared with a standard bike.
I took it to Z-power to show Dave, he encouraged me to "wind in some boost", to make sure the turbo was working, I set it fairly low and set off back to the A580.

I want one for myself !
It sounds great, gets a lot of looks, pulls great and gets a little exited at 3psi of boost (maximum for running in). This is good enough for the odd spurt up to 80/90mph.
So after about 10 miles every thing is working fine, A few more test runs to Iron out any snags that may occur and Dave at Z-Power can pick it up.
(P.S. The mark on the floor is Not a oil leak, just a stain from a previous encounter)

The Turbo has passed its MOT.
I cheated and took it in a van though.
The motor sounds good and the mixture is about right, I fitted one of our heavy duty sealed "Quadflex" batteries (don't like the "acid vapour" from normal batteries)
I have tweaked and fettled a few things and await the road Tax so I can start the road testing
I have said a prayer the sun god for some nice weather so fingers crossed.

The beast lives, it started up straight away with no fuss. A nice smell of "castrol R" for some reason? and a lovely tone to the exhaust, a lot quieter than I expected.
I ran her for a few minutes to get it up to temperature, then let her cool down so I can re-torque the head nuts and check for oil leaks etc.
Dave has fitted the harness and wired most of it up, I will finish the wiring off when I do the re-torque.
If you want to hear it running, gently for now, click on the picture below.

Carb is fitted and connected up, Engine has been spun up to circulate the oil and the Hydraulic clutch is bled and working.
Electrics next, you never no it could be running this weekend!

After a lot of fitting/removing/fitting/removing I have finally got the turbo to sit in is final resting place, a 6mm thick flange spacer, double exhaust gaskets, a few tweaks rotating the turbo case and a few changes of fixing bolts/nuts enabled the pipework to fit without touching the frame, engine case or starter motor cover.
All oil pressure pipes are now fitted, the turbo oil drain pipe fitted well into the converted redundant kick start casing and the oil is in.
The 525 X-ring conversion chain is now on. The PMC hydraulic clutch conversion fitting was straight forward, just got to bleed it up tomorrow.
The carb fitting is next and the high flow "Pingle" petrol tap has arrived.
Dave Marsden should be dropping off the new wiring loom on Saturday so we hoping for some electrickery very soon!

This Bike was created by Dave at Z-power for his stand At last years Stafford show.
I helped him fit the ZXR upside down front end and the Honda single sided rear, as well as a frame strengthening kit at the time but some parts did not arrive in time so it went to the show as a non runner. It was at our open day in May if you came, next to the MFP Mad Max bike.
I now have to help him finish it off because some one fell in love with it and has persuaded him to sell it.
Dave gave me a large box of Z1R engine parts, lots of new shiny bits, a welded crank and all the parts he took off the show bike and said do you think you can build me the motor?
It has tested my resolve over the last couple of months but its nearly done, I will post an update when its running.
